May 2019, Year 2, age 7

On arrival we watched a display by the Fool.

Next we watched a sword fighting lesson. Sadly HB wasn't chosen to take part, but HB practised the moves outside the arena anyway.

Next it was time for the personal combat mêlée. The four teams fought with different weapons, gaining points according to their skill (or because the crowd was massively biased towards the 'beast from the East').

Then there was time to hold and try on some of the armour...

and take part in a kids' foam sword battle.

After a snack of pottage and hot chocolate in the cafe (it was a cold day!) we watched the grand mêlée.

HB chatted to the Knights and our Lady host.

Sir John Woodhall of Odell, the Red Knight of the South Sir William Harrington of Wolfage Manor, the Yellow Knight of the East Sir Richard Herbert, Green Knight of the West Sir Thomas Pilkington, Blue Knight of the North our Lady host

There was then time for a walk around the walls of the castle, some sword play with Daddy, and a little musical entertainment.
