We began our adventure with an overnight stay in one of the replica iron age roundhouses at Celtic Harmony Camp.
Before dinner we played in the woods and picked some blackberries.
After a yummy meal we toasted some vegan marshmallows, heard an ancient story, and then went on a bat walk with bat detectors.
The next day we stayed for some stone age themed family fun. Alongside the activities were four riddles to solve. HB was very pleased with the prize. Our first stop was the prehistory centre for a talk about stone age cave art.
HB looked at some real prehistoric finds.
Then we headed off to make our own paleolithic inspired art.
After solving a riddle we headed into the woods to make fairy houses.
Next we made a Brighid Eye decoration.
We returned to the prehistory centre for a talk about (mostly) stone age tools.
After some delicious pizza we made Beaker culture inspired pots.
We made a den (given the weather I think it was a sun shelter). I don't think it would have protected us from rain, but it would have been a pretty good hide to watch prey from.
We hunted animals with "spears" (aka sticks) and practised our creeping skills.
Next we watched a fire lighting demonstration.
At the end of the day HB helped to tell the tale of how the Giant's Causeway was created, playing the role of Finn McCool.
