An actor playing the role of Henry VIII gave a talk on the sinking of the Mary Rose. He described how, in 1545, the French were attacking Portsmouth harbour. The Mary Rose had fired her guns from one side. She turned to fire her remaining guns at the enemy but a gust of wind (and possibly too many guns and sailors on board) resulted in her tipping. The gunports had not been closed, so she took on water. She sank fast, with fewer than 40 of the 400-600 strong crew surviving.
