Mathematical skills can be taught in many ways. Until HB was 7 1/2 we did not use a formal maths curriculum or schedule maths "lessons". We would play number based games in the car and discuss maths concepts, sometimes engaging in mathematical projects (for example drawing fractals). At 7 1/2 HB asked to try a more school like approach, so we purchased the (very cheap) Power Maths Practice books and downloaded the free end of unit and end of term White Rose Maths tests. HB often works on these in the car as we travel to workshops and groups.
