They began their trip into prehistory by mixing up natural paints and making some rock art.
Then it was time to weave some wattle, and mix up and apply the daub (made with equal parts dung, clay, soil, and straw - and yes it was real poo).
The third activity was smashing nettle stems to get at the fibrous part used for making string or yarn. They also pressed nettle leaves to make dye.
After this they ground some grain and mixed up a honey based dough.
The final activity of the morning was HB's favourite. The used herbs and bark to mix up remedies for burns, cuts, and a sore throat.
After lunch they looked at replica objects that would have been used by prehistoric people.
We then toured the site, looking at the bronze age log boats and replica, and at the remains of the causeway.
Next it was time for some deer hunting. The children threw their spear at the wicker deer and then thought about how different parts of the deer might have been used.
We ended the day with a trip to the Bronze Age roundhouse.
