West Kennet Long Barrow (and Silbury Hill)

September 2017, Year 1, age 5

Our walk to West Kennet Long Barrow offered a view of the Bronze Age Silbury Hill. This was completed around 2400 BC. Construction of this man made hill would have taken considerable effort but we do not know it's purpose. It does not appear to have contained a burial.

West Kennet Long Barrow is a neolithic chambered tomb, built in approximately 3650 BC and closed around 2000 BC. Nearly 50 people were buried there. HB decided to pick a flower on the way there, to place on the top, to honour the people who had been buried there.
