Adventures in Latin

September 2019, Year 3 (age 7)

HB attended 'Adventures in Latin', a workshop at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.

The session began with a study of inscriptions. Focussing on certain Latin words and Roman numerals, HB learnt about a Roman cavalry officer and then searched the gallery for more inscriptions.

Next HB made a Latin inscription, taking on a Roman name and nickname.

The pupils then handled original and replica ojects, learning a little more about the Romans.

Finally they learnt Latin insults (that were inscribed on Roman sling bullets) and army drill language.
