Today we joined the amazing Tudor re-enactors at Kentwell Hall for Midsummer 1588.
On arrival HB and a friend acted out a story.
Next HB made a ceramic bead and watched a pot being made.
Then it was time to help the washerwoman out.
HB helped cut some vegetables and then took them to the pottage pot.
Then it was time for a swordsmanship class.
Next HB learnt a little about Tudor painting equipment and techniques.
HB had a quick look at the wool being dyed, visited the school room to learn the Tudor alphabet, and then watched an archery demonstration.
In the meadow HB looked at willow weaving and made a headband.
The alchemist and marchpane maker showed off their skills.
HB really enjoyed talking to the musicians about Tudor written music and hearing them sing.
Then it was time to visit the dairy and help make butter.
Before leaving the house HB visited the apothecary and heard about some interesting Tudor remedies.
It was almost time to return to the 21st century, but HB quickly had a look at some of the things coming from the New World, the dyes used in painting, and had a wonderful sketch made.
We had a lovely time at Tudor Kentwell and hope we'll have the opportunity to return in 2020.
