On this return visit to the Museum of London's London before London gallery, HB completed the KS2 trail.
In the Paleolithic section HB looked at various animal bones and thought about the changing climate. HB also studied tools and watched a video showing flint knapping.
In the Mesolithic HB looked at a replica arrow and thought about the materials it was made from. (HB spotted that whilst the sheet asked for the three things it was made from, it also had some kind of resin and thread to attach the pieces together. HB thought the thread might be sinew as we have seen this used by people conducting experimental archaeology.)
In the Neolithic HB saw the model of a Neolithic woman's face and watched a video showing how it was made. HB also looked at objects found in the Thames, including those that appear to have been deliberately placed there.
In the Bronze age HB discovered that Flag Fen was not the only place special objects were thrown into water, nor was it the only place to have a wooden walkway. HB looked at bronze age objects and thought about the materials they were made from.
In the Iron age HB discovered an unusual helmet, a beautiful shield, a hoard of coins, iron swords, and bronze brooches.
