Mên-an-tol means 'holed stone'. It is thought to be an early bronze age megalithic structure that may once have been part of a larger stone circle. It is about 3500 years old.
We visited the stones during a walk around the area. We'd hoped to continue onto neaby Boskednan Stone Circle (also known as the Nine Maidens) but the ground was too boggy.
Due to local legends about passing through the circular hole causing pregnancy or curing disease many people over the years have gone through the holed stone and many tourists can't resist.
