Verulamium Museum

September 2019, Year 3 (age 7)

HB completed an educational trail around the Verulamium Museum. On entry we watched a video about the Roman town, and Boudicca burning it to the ground in AD 60/61. We then looked at 'Rites and Recreation'. As well as completing the relevant section of the trial, HB enjoyed pretending to go to a Roman Bath.

Next it was time to explore 'Merchants and Markets'. HB found the progressively smaller coins (due to inflation devaluing the worth of the coin) really interesting.

The next section was 'Making a Living'. HB read about some of the many trades conducted in Verulamium, and had a go at building an arch.

We then headed into the 'Food and Farming' section.

HB was inspired to make a tree mosaic. It took ages but HB was very happy with the result!
